Congratulations, Ladies . . . we're on our way! We made it through the Introductory session of our new study, and we learned a few things.
We learned:
We learned:
- that the Hebrew term for the Book of Esther is "Megillah", which means "the Scroll, par excellence";
- that Esther is a Diaspora story . . . a story taking place during a time when the Jews were not living in the Land of Israel;
- that God is not mentioned once in the whole Book of Esther . . . but He is all over it!
- that the story of Esther offers tremendous hope because, even when we're blind to the evidence, God "works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will" (Eph. 1:11) and that He "works in you to will and to act according to that good purpose". (Phil. 2:13)
Any further points . . . thoughts, insights . . . ?
I am looking forward to getting into my homework for Week One - A Royal Mess. Sounds intriguing . . . and remember, pay attention to the thought weaving through the homework this week -
Scenario #1 - It's tough being a women in another woman's shadow!
In the days ahead, may God show you the places in your life where He is "working in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."
See you in a couple of weeks . . . Jan.
Jan!! I love it! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I too am basking in the delight of this amazing community of women!! What a ride!!!
As you are there for me personally, and, as I see you all there for each other, standing 'shoulder to shoulder' I smile real big!! :>)
One of my goals for this new year (new because my new school year has just begun) is to walk out the door each work day with a specific verse that God gives me...listen to Friday's verses...
"In you O LORD, I have taken refuge...Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name, lead me and guide me...I will be glad and rejoice in your love" Psalm 31
He Is AMAZING!!
Love you all!!!! Laurie :>)
This is very cool - I love it too! And I love the recap of the lesson. I've just finished day one's homework - yay! I like the way Beth Moore has you travel all through the bible for each day's homework.
ReplyDeleteThanks for setting this up Jan - it's going to be great!
Dianne . . . you're welcome. I really like doing stuff like this so I am finding it a real treat . . . and to have it be for a purpose makes it even more fun.
ReplyDeleteYay on getting at your homework . . . true to your word!!!!
I really like, too, how Beth has us in the Bible from cover to cover, and how it all fits together is so neat to see.
Have a great week : )

ReplyDeleteHi Jan, hi everyone!! Something I love about our study is that in our busy lives, even if we miss a session or didnt have time to do the "through-the-weeks" workbook, we can never get "behind"!
I was talking to a good friend who missed last Saturday, and we chatted about that. As a group, we've actually purchased the study, and are passing around the previously viewed CD's; I borrowed a workbook one time, to catch up on comments from the video, because at that time there just wasnt even a spot in my life to sit down for an hour and go through the CD.
I love the "open door" thing about our group. It's welcoming and understanding of women, families, life and all it throws at us sometimes.
Last Saturday, we talked about being in our corner of life "for such a time as this".
And we have God's promise that "as your day is so shall your strength be".
Have a good week, everyone. Step by step we are closer to the Lord's coming, no matter what this week might bring.
